Wailuku is designated the county seat and is considered the "Downtown" of Maui. Government buildings, the largest hospital, small shops, and restaurants can be found in the center of this town. People from far and wide enjoy First Friday celebrations each month.

Venturing slightly away from the city's center you'll find a variety of neighborhoods with anchoring grocery stores. Wailuku Heights sits high upon the hillside of the West Maui Mountains. Many homeowners enjoy bicoastal views of the ocean and Haleakala towering over the valley. Just below Wailuku Heights is the newer neighborhood community of Kehalani. Much of the Kehalani community sits high enough to enjoy ocean breezes, city lights, and cruise ships routinely entering the harbor.

Wailuku also offers an opportunity to own a home that sits on spacious acreage in the Wailuku Country Estates community just northwest of the city. Many luxurious homes sit high on the hillside overlooking Maui's north shore and down into the city of Kahului. Residents here appreciate the feel of island country living within close proximity to town.
